Conceptual grew out of a conviction: furniture should never impose itself on a space, or on the person using it. Quite the opposite. Furniture adapts to how people live and work and to the way we meet each other, and how pleasant and comfortable that can be. That is what we set out to do.
For us, furniture is far more than just a piece of furniture. Conceptual's furniture moves with its surroundings. They connect without dominating, offer comfort without being heavy-handed, and create privacy without anyone having to shut a door.
That conviction has been our foundation from the very start. It is a vision we have kept building on ever since. Conceptual turns workplaces and living environments, schools, hospitality venues and public buildings into spaces where focus, comfort and connection come together.

JEROME GAUTHIER
Creative Director & Designer
Jérôme Gauthier graduated from the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs (EnsAD) in Paris and has been working as a designer from his own studio since 2000. Over the years, he has collaborated with a wide range of clients, including craftspeople, industrial companies, research organisations, publishers, and both private and public institutions.
His approach is characterised by a professional practice that he has developed and refined over time: attentive, purposeful, meticulous and deeply human. His credo sums it up aptly: “Listen to better respond to the client's needs, seek meaning, understand to persuade, and feel to confirm.”
Sustainability
For us, conscious design is not only about the materials we choose. It is just as much about quality, maintenance and flexibility. A good piece of furniture should stand up to intensive use, and should also be able to move with a space when its function or its users change.
Therefore, we design collections that are not dependent on temporary trends and look at components that are logically constructed. Where possible, we make it possible to replace parts, renew upholstery, or adapt versions.
As far as we are concerned, sustainability isn't about big words. It's about considered choices that keep furniture working well and let's it earn its place in a room.
